Digital nomad packing list – 16 essential things to bring
Only pack the essentials and thank us later
Being a digital nomad is an amazing experience, but it can be difficult to know what to bring. You will need to pack differently than you would do for a two week vacation, but that doesn’t mean you need to pack more.
Long-term travel with new places to see and people to meet can be overwhelming and tiring. And with that in mind, you do not want to carry loads of suitcases wherever you go!
Trust us, we’ve learnt the hard way that lugging heavy bags around will quickly get frustrating.
So try to pack light and bring only the essentials that will make a difference.
You may be surprised how much satisfaction you get from wearing only your favourite shirts on rotation. And how much time you save without a million things to pack every time you move location.
So aside from the obvious clothing staples, here are 16 things that we always bring to make our trips better.

Digital Nomad Packing List
Clothes & shoes (location dependant!)
1. Packing cubes
Squish your clothes and make your bags more compact and organised.
2. Linen trousers
They’re light and comfortable and can be worn night and day. Game changer.
3. Long button-down shirt
Again, these can be dressed up or down and offer additional sun protection if you’re going somewhere hot.
4. Light jacket with a hood
Find one that is warm, light and waterproof.
5. Comfortable shoes
You’ll be walking a lot, one to two pairs of sneakers is a good idea.
6. Loungewear
For relaxing after work in your Airbnb.
7. Socks and underwear
Lots of them. Don’t get caught out in between stays and if there isn’t a laundromat nearby.
Accessories
8. Travel backpack
Consider the size and weight you will be allowed to carry on and check in when flying.
9. Refillable water bottle
Really handy.
10. Sun hat
Buy a light and foldable one. Columbia has some great options.
11. Bumbag/fanny pack
An easy to reach and comfortable way to carry your essentials.
12. Resistance bands
These are lightweight and can make a great portable workout session wherever you are.
Toiletries
Don’t bring any! Or bring as few as needed. They weigh down your bag and can often be bought locally.
13. Sunscreen
Though, if you bring anything, pack sunscreen as it can be surprisingly expensive overseas depending on where you go.
You can’t beat The Anthelios range by La Roche Posay.
Tech
14. Headset for remote working
One can be useful for online meetings and calls when you’re in public places.
15. Portable laptop monitor
A light and portable second screen is a must.
Food
Chances are, your favourite snacks may be hard to find overseas. And yes, with so many new local foods to try, you might think, why bother? But, at the end of a long work day, sometimes you appreciate the taste of home.
16. Your favourite snacks…
